How Visco Real Estate Apartments Are Built to Withstand Earthquakes
A look at the structural approach behind our buildings — reinforced concrete frames, ductile detailing and design checks carried out to Ethiopian building standards.
Addis Ababa sits within a seismically active region, and every Visco Real Estate building is designed with that reality in mind from the first structural drawing.
Our buildings use reinforced concrete frames with ductile detailing at beam–column joints, so that under seismic loading the structure can deform and absorb energy instead of failing suddenly. Shear walls and cores are positioned to keep the building regular in plan and stiff against lateral movement.
Structural design is carried out and independently checked against the applicable Ethiopian building code provisions for seismic design, and reinforcement work on site is inspected before every concrete pour.
The result is not a marketing claim but a documented engineering process — one that we are happy to walk any serious buyer through during a site visit.
